Discover The Pancake Club

The Pancake Club in Amsterdam offers a unique experience for breakfast, brunch, or even a casual afternoon treat. Located at Leidsebosje 5, 1054 LJ, this cozy diner has built a reputation for serving up some of the most delicious and inventive pancakes in the city. The menu is brimming with both sweet and savory options, allowing guests to satisfy any craving while enjoying a relaxed atmosphere that makes you feel right at home.

The restaurant's specialty lies in its pancakes, but not just any pancakes-these are fluffy, golden, and the perfect balance between light and filling. If you're someone who enjoys experimenting with flavors, The Pancake Club has you covered. You can choose from classic combinations like chocolate and bananas, or get adventurous with more savory options such as smoked salmon and cream cheese. Each pancake is served with an assortment of fresh ingredients and toppings that elevate the dish to something extraordinary.

One of the standout items on the menu is the "Dutch Pancake," which showcases a more traditional style, thinner and slightly crispy on the edges, yet tender inside. Topped with a generous helping of powdered sugar and a choice of syrup, this pancake brings out the authenticity of Dutch cuisine with every bite. For those with a sweet tooth, you can't go wrong with the "Strawberry Heaven"-a stack of pancakes laden with fresh strawberries, whipped cream, and syrup.

Beyond just the pancakes, the The Pancake Club menu is designed to cater to various dietary preferences. Vegetarians and vegans will find plenty of delicious options, such as plant-based pancakes made with coconut milk and topped with fruit or nuts. Those with a gluten intolerance are also welcomed with open arms, as the restaurant offers gluten-free pancake options without compromising on taste or texture.

The ambiance at The Pancake Club adds to the charm of the dining experience. The décor is modern yet warm, with exposed brick walls, wooden furniture, and subtle lighting that gives the place a welcoming vibe. It’s the kind of place where you can relax and savor your food at a leisurely pace, whether you're enjoying a morning meal or catching up with friends over brunch. The staff is friendly and always willing to share recommendations, making the experience feel personal and special.

Many visitors rave about the excellent service, highlighting the attentiveness and warmth of the staff, which ensures that every guest feels comfortable and well taken care of. The atmosphere, combined with the delicious food, has earned The Pancake Club a loyal following. It's no wonder that the restaurant frequently receives positive reviews from both locals and tourists alike. Whether it's a casual morning out or a celebratory meal, The Pancake Club manages to impress with every visit.

When it comes to value, The Pancake Club strikes a perfect balance. While the prices are on the higher side compared to standard pancake spots, the quality of the ingredients and the flavors justify the cost. Each pancake dish is served with ample portions, ensuring that you're well-fed and satisfied after your meal.

The location of The Pancake Club is also a key factor in its popularity. Situated in the heart of Amsterdam, the restaurant is easily accessible and serves as a perfect stop after a day of sightseeing or shopping. Whether you're in the mood for a quick snack or a full brunch experience, this spot offers a welcoming retreat from the busy city streets.

In conclusion, The Pancake Club delivers a delightful dining experience where comfort meets innovation. With its wide range of menu items, great service, and cozy ambiance, it's clear why this restaurant has become a favorite among both locals and visitors to Amsterdam.

  • The pineapple dutch pancake is a must try. The caramelization of pineapple adds a nice kick to the pancake. The poffertjes was a tad bit too sweet for my liking. But they are buttery soft. Sitting by the canal elevates the experience. But the indoors is beautifully done too.

  • Very cute spot on the canal, right of Leidplains. Was quite a few groups I front of us but we managed to get a seat in 10mins. Food: Had a pancake with Nutella and strawberries. There was so much Nutella, these pancakes were massive and very tasty. Also had the mini pancakes and these were my favourite. Lovely mini light pancakes.

  • From the cozy feel of the window-filled round interior to the tiny, sugar-coated, syrup-covered poffertjes, everything about this spot was a delight. Pro tip: get the double portion and share them with someone you like.

  • This was my second visit to The Pancake Club since being in Amsterdam, and both times the food, coffee, atmosphere, and service were excellent! The first time, I had the poffertjes (mini pancakes), which were delicious, but the pineapple Dutch pancake on my second visit was hands-down my favorite. I actually tried it after seeing another reviewer recommend it — and they were right! I’d also suggest adding a side of bacon; it perfectly balances out the sweetness of the dish.

  • We came here on a Saturday morning, the pancakes were very tasty and arrived quickly. It appeared that most of the staff were new so a few things were forgotten and it took over 25minutes for the bill to arrive, despite asking 3 different staff members. I suggest in the future that new staff don’t all start on the same day. I would recommend going for the food.

  • Cozy little find right by the canal — I always make a point to stop here whenever I’m wandering through Amsterdam. The pancake house is small but delightfully cute, with warm wooden details and a relaxed, friendly vibe that makes it perfect for either a quiet solo breakfast or a cosy catch-up with friends. The windows look out onto the canal, so it’s a lovely place to sit and watch boats glide by before or after a canal tour. They offer a wide variety of pancakes — sweet, savory, classic Dutch, and creative combos — so there’s something for every mood. My favourite has to be the poffertjes. Tiny, pillowy, and irresistibly fun to eat, they’re like little bites of comfort. Full disclosure: they do pile on the sugar and butter, which is absolutely decadent and maybe a bit much if you’re expecting something light. But if you’re in the mood to treat yourself, that rich, buttery sweetness is exactly what you want. I usually share a portion so I can enjoy the flavor without feeling overly full. Staff are welcoming and unobtrusive — friendly smiles, quick recommendations, and service that stays unhurried, which keeps the whole experience calm and restorative. The portion sizes are generous, so it’s a good idea to come hungry or plan to share. They also have a nice selection of hot drinks; a well-brewed coffee or a soothing tea pairs perfectly with the pancakes. Because it’s a small place, it can get busy during peak tourist hours, but the turnover is steady and you usually won’t wait long. I love popping in right before a canal tour for a light bite and coffee, or swinging by afterward to warm up and reflect on the sights. The atmosphere feels authentically local — not rushed, not pretentious, just a comfortable spot to enjoy good food and mellow canal views. All in all, a charming pancake house that hits the spot when you want something comforting and satisfying. If you’re strolling near the canals and craving pancakes (especially poffertjes), this is a delightful stop. Just be prepared for that glorious sugar-and-butter extravagance — it’s part of the charm.

  • Recommended by our travel planner, this canal side café was a gem. On our first visit we ordered the Pancake Club poffertjes with strawberries, cream and ice cream. Yum! The next day we tried a savoury pancake and were delighted with a ham and cheese pancake topped with mushrooms. Plenty for two.
